Yesterday in my earlier blog post I had embarked on a flower expedition back up in the Sheepsheads. Yeah the name is a bit funny but that is what it says on the map. There were flowers every where and one thing lead to another until I found my self at "Cow Camp". I noticed that there was some activity going on in the corral, so I wandered on down. The "crew" from next door were branding the local calves that with their momma's had been hanging around the camp. Of course I had to stop and say "Howdy".
The crew consisted of my neighbors, two of their friends, and of course, the ranchers in training, their children. Dave and Tami have seven children, two of which are a bit too small, but are coming up in the near future.
Everybody pitches in. Isabel, the oldest is back home for the summer and is
of course right in the middle of every thing- burning the brands and carrying the
shots that the calves need.
Thayen is the second son, and at 10 is quite a hand. As a year old baby he went hawking
with Tami and I on her back and saved plastic bags to the Rabbits that we caught. As he
grew, he practiced his roping on the dogs and any visitors that wasn't careful enough to evade him.
This is Dave, the proud papa.
Tami along with her oldest son Reuben and the two friends, Tom and Dennis
were doing the roping today.
