Preparation for the fall Fly-in

Prior to Karen's passing we had several talks about what we each wanted if we should die. Most were conducted in the Hot tub, enjoying the evenings splendor and the winding down of the day. We decided that the survivor would have the other cremated and their ashes scattered on the place that we both loved- Casa de Piedra , The House of Stone. Not our name, but the one that was given to this place by the women who built it. I would of course take care of the scattering myself and if Karen was left then she would ask our friends who fly up here each year to do it for her.

Well it has come to pass that the chore is left to me, and I have decided that she will go to her final resting place here at the fly in this fall. Any and all who read this are welcome to come and join with us to thank Karen for the love and affection that she has given us one and all. Sept 8th, 2018.

There are many ways to scatter cremains (ashes) when it comes to airplanes it is a bit more difficult. If one opens up a door then a low pressure is created in the plane and you can be wearing your loved one. In my case the propeller is right behind me, and I don't intend to put Karen through that. (pun intended) So I decided that the attach point that is normally used to hang the wing when it is folded would work quite well. Here is what I came up with.

It took two flights to get a finished product, but I am happy with the result. Now I just need to paint it and wait for you all to arrive.

  1. Good job on the dispenser. "Piedra" I may have named my new boat Piedra if I had thought about it. Stone is a fine name for a boat. Sunsets like these, only at the Rock House.
