It appears that spring is on its way, so I can come out of hibernation once more. Several people, ( at least two so far) have enquired if I was still alive and OK, and mentioned that I should write something. I would have been happy to do so, if I had anything to write about. Unfortunately the only thing that I could put to print would have been complaints about the wind, so I just threw another log on the fire and turned the page of the current library book that I had on my kindle. Christmas to now is reading time for me. There is an online library called Libraries of Eastern Oregon, and you can check out books that download to your kindle. You have 21 days to read them. It is a really great boon for those of us that like to read, and all you have to do is sign up for a library card from your county library.
Hopefully all of you either have your covid shots or will soon. Perhaps we can all go back to a semi normal life soon. I got mine in November from the VA in Boise in November.
This winter was one of the mildest that I have experienced here. The coldest it got was 4 degrees. There was no snow or rain to mention, so its gonna be a dry one this year. Ponds are already drying up, and if it doesn't rain the next month and half, we are in for an interesting year indeed. Our normal rainfall is about 4.5 inches a year. At the house I have had only about 3 inches of snow total for the entire winter. That measures out to be less than 1/2 inch of moisture.
As I said the wind has been relentless this year. I haven't even considered taking the plane out of the hangar. I took Josie my female Brittany to the vet in Burns today, and it was nice when I left at noon. The weather was pretty nice, low 60's, but when I got back I notice that the spring tumble weed migration is in full swing.
There was not a single tumble weed in there when I left this morning.
Josie is 11 years old, and most Brits began to get really old at about that time. She spent most of last night throwing up. I think I got to bed at 4:30 AM, and she still didn't feel very good, so it was time to get her a check up. She managed to find a really rotten baby Jack Rabbit the other day, and it upset her tummy. I wanted to make sure that was all it was, but her time is limited I am afraid.
Hang in there, spring is coming!
I notice that the average number of people that read this blog is about 39. Lots of blogs were even lower than that. My point is that if you are not interested in reading this thing, kindly let me know and I will stop sending it to you. My purpose in writing this, other than a diary for me is not to plug up your email with junk that you don't want. No harm, no foul.
you write. Let's know you are following the sun.

DeleteSo glad you have come out of hibernation. I was just thinking yesterday that it had been too long since we had heard from you. Sometimes we need these quiet times just to rejuvenate, and help us get through the rest of the year. We are enjoying 80 degree weather, although it will be all the way down to 72 today. Not sure if I can make it through this cold day
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, and we look forward to reading your blog on a more regular basis.
Always happy to see your name in my in box... Aloha, h.
