The fourteenth "Rock house international fly in" is officially over. Actually it was more a gathering of good friends, many of which were not able to attend. Now that it is over the smoke that has plagued us has pretty much gone. The weather that spawned them has moderated. There was even a rim of ice in the hawk bath this morning, and clear skies. We had a good time, no one got hurt, and we all gained a bit of weight from all the goodies and snacks that found their way here. Every one chipped in with the cooking chores, leaving me with a lot more spare time than usual. We actually had a visitor this year, Jeff Denham accompanied John Bickem in his brand new Bearhawk. I managed to leave Jeff's name out of the video of John Williams memorial. He is there in one of the pictures, but I spaced it.
Bud is progressing quite nicely and is on track for opening Duck season. Hope finally lost enough of her summer fat that I was able to grab her yesterday for a little closer supervision. Now I need to get a little more weight off her and we will be looking for the "wiley Jack Rabbit" again.

This video is of a flight to visit the crash site of John Williamson. John was a mentor for most of us. He crashed in May of 2008. Every one wanted to visit the site to pay our respects.
Roger and I flew the top of the Sheepheads. The flight was an hour and three quarters, and more than 79 miles. I did not want to leave anything out. It was smooth as silk, so I sped up the playback to 300 percent. Almost enough to make the Kolb appear to move as fast as a regular airplane. The actual speed is still displayed in the lower left corner. I know that the normal attention span of a human is about 5 minutes at most, but I just don't seem to be able to cut some of them any shorter.
The visibility was a lot better, but still not the 100 miles that we normally have here.
Bud ready for his exercise.
The drone was up about 300 feet for this one.
So glad Bud is coming along. So glad you all had a great time. Love ya
