Another Antelope flight

The winds were nice this morning so I rolled out the plane for another look at the area my friend will be hunting in August.

I located two more water sources that just might be the answer as far as a place to hunt. They are a bit out of the obvious areas that a hunter not from this area would be able to find. One of them is extremely difficult to locate. A map will not help all that much because so many of the normal ponds are totally dry due to the drought.

I was able to discover that the horses were taking advantage of the water troughs for the cattle, which were apparently fed from piping that the ranchers have put in. The situation on this side of the Hwy which is the dividing line for this particular tag, is a lot more serious. The horses are dominating the water tanks that the ranchers are filling and driving every thing else off the water. There are so many horses that the ranch has had to pull their cattle off the range because they just can't keep up.

As I was editing the video, the sky darkened and since arrival back here there have been at least two fires in the area that I surveyed this morning. One of the fires has reached 5000 acres so far, not sure about the other.
