Silvies Resort

Connie's Brother and Sister-in-Law were coming to visit with Connie this last week end, and she decided to take them to the resort for dinner. It was also to be my introduction to Connie's brother, Dennis.

You can scroll through the home page above at your leisure. However to give you a short description of the place would be that it is huge. About one square mile of resort that supplies every thing from shooting ranges to four different gold courses, with all kinds of amenities that you can imagine, all of it at "resort" prices. They have their own airstrip and enough people there filling various needs what ever they might be.

Connie's current job is serving at the evening dinners which Which is anywhere up to about 30 people each night. They are 7 course dinners and generally hosted by one of the owners or their sons.

Early Sunday morning while waiting for her brother to arrive, we let her cat (Chili) out to run around for a bit. Burns has an explosion of Deer living in Burns among the human population. They run all over and are quite a hazard to bicyclists and their puppies when the Does have their young.

Chili was stalking this one, but I am guessing that he was the only one who actually knew that he was in stalking mode since the Deer totally ignored him.

We went to the ranch around 2 PM and were taken on a tour of the ranch by the head "ranger", their name for "people herder". I'm not sure how many miles we covered but it was quite extensive. Their main pride is the restoration of the watersheds on the ranch.

We had enough time to sit out on the "veranda" and imbibe in an adult beverage prior to dinner. Since I was the designated driver I stuck to Coke. Eventually the dinner was served and it was quite a production.

Connie and her brother are very close, and she enjoyed being able to treat them, Dennis and his wife Linda, to a very nice dinner.
