Alvord Desert and Hart Mtn.

Connie was getting a bit of "cabin fever" and wanted to go somewhere, anywhere! With further enquiry it turned out that Hart Mtn. Hot springs would do quite well. I proposed that we take the fifth wheel to the Alvord and use it as a base, since I had no idea at all what Hart Mtn looked like. I had never been there but had heard about it forever, and I suppose developed a picture in my head that resembled nothing at all like reality. Every one that I had ever met ranted and raved about how wonderful it was.

I am very glad that we did just that. It's a long dusty gravel road to Hart Mountain. I had mentioned in my last video about how many people that had gathered at the Alvord, and it looked like they had told all of their friends what a good time they had and it was twice if not more populated when I arrived. There were about four or five groups that had gathered into "compounds" scattered all over the place. They were every where, tucked into little nooks and crannies all around the circumference of the Desert.

Connie was wondering just how far it was around the Alvord, so we went for a drive. Just by rounding off the edges I still put 35 miles on my speedometer driving around it, and we were never out of close sight of camps. I damn near got claustrophobic. Motor cycles, wind sailors, and cars all over. Apparently every one was suffering from the effects of quarrentines and just needed to get out!

This is mostly pictures, and they will have to tell my story for me. We had a good time, and enjoyed the change in scenery.

I did however managed to find a little spot that soothed my need for space.

The really funny part for me was that I took my portable fireplace, and wanted to try some night photo's. ON THE LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR. I never got to do any of either, I couldn't stay up long enough for it to get dark. At the leading edge of the time zone meant that it didn't even begin to get dark before 10 PM.

It was windy, Dust devils were constantly popping up all over the place.

This is the closest it got to dark.

Tiger is a good camping companion, he takes it all in stride and relaxing is not a problem                                                                         for him, Brick either.

I found the area around Plush ( in the distance) to be a lot more interesting than the Hot Springs. Too much preconceived ideas I guess.

  1. You had a lot of very nice shots but for some crazy ass reason the one that I liked the most was the one of Tiger by himself on the desert floor. Have no idea why but it looked like Tiger was totally happy and content. Pretty awesome he hangs around camp much like what a dog would do.
